Description

The objective of the course is to familiarise students with the socio-cultural perspective on conceptualising and critically analysing gender inequality. We put forward a sociological examination of social phenomena and processes that, on the one hand, serve to legitimise the patriarchal social order, and on the other hand, are evidence of ongoing socio-cultural changes aimed at egalitarianisation and redefining the 'gender contract'. In light of our research interests and experiences, we intend to concentrate on a range of social institutions, including power, science, art, education and medicine. In our joint reflection on gender equality in society, we will adopt an intersectional perspective.
