Admissions criteria
Students who have received an Engineer’s, Master of Engineering or equivalent degree in a study programme assigned to a field of engineering and technology or one assigned to a field of exact and natural sciences may apply for admission.
The qualification criterion shall be a competition of final grades on the graduation diplomas.
Graduates who have completed this course at the University of Silesia shall have the grade on the diploma multiplied by the conversion factor of 1.5.
Qualification for studies shall be determined by the place on the ranking list created based on the candidate score (CS) calculated according to the formula below.
Method of calculating points (candidate score):
CS = 2 * D + O
where:
§ CS – candidate score,
§ D – a grade on the diploma of completion of a study programme assigned to the leading discipline – biomedical engineering; (D = 0 when a candidate has not completed a study programme assigned to the leading discipline – biomedical engineering),
§ O – a grade on the diploma of completion of a study programme assigned to a leading discipline other than the discipline – biomedical engineering, but falling within a field of engineering and technology or a field of exact and natural sciences; (O = 0 when the candidate has not completed a study programme assigned to a field of exact and natural sciences or one assigned to a field of engineering and technology).
In the case of graduates of other study programmes than those mentioned above or graduates from other universities, if the analysis of the 1st cycle studies reveals differences in the study programme and/or learning outcomes, the student shall be obliged to do remedial (paid) classes within the deadline set by the Dean of the Faculty.
The candidate shall be required to submit an appropriate medical certificate for the absence of a medical contraindication to study this study programme.
